Write a paper comparing and contrasting the three contemporary theories of art—of what it is to be an artwork—as presented by Danto, Dickie, and Levinson.
Unlike the traditional, substantive and normative, theories of art examined earlier, such as those of Schopenhauer, Bell, Tolstoy and Collingwood, the theories of Danto, Dickie and Levinson are aimed at capturing the neutral or classificatory concept of art, and are all relational in character.
